Instructions:
- Soak the almonds: Place the almonds in a bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak overnight or for at least 8 hours. This process softens the almonds and makes them easier to blend.
- Drain and rinse the almonds: After soaking, drain the almonds and rinse them thoroughly under running water.
- Blend the almonds: Place the soaked almonds in a blender and add 4 cups of fresh water. Blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
- Strain the almond milk: Set a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or fine mesh strainer over a large bowl or pitcher. Pour the blended mixture into the strainer, allowing the liquid to separate from the almond pulp. Gently squeeze or press the pulp to extract as much milk as possible.
- Optional: Sweeten and flavor: If desired, add your preferred sweetener to the strained milk. You can also add a splash of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt for added flavor. Adjust the sweetness and flavor according to your taste.
- Mix and chill: Stir the almond milk well to incorporate the sweetener and flavors. Cover the bowl or pitcher and refrigerate the almond milk for at least 1 hour to chill and allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve: After chilling, give the almond milk a good stir before serving. It can be enjoyed as is, added to coffee or tea, used in smoothies, or used in recipes that call for almond milk.
